Dr. Hong-Ru Chen is a Board Certified OB/GYN, who grew up on the North Shore near Sunset Beach. She attended Kahuku High School and graduated from Iolani School. She received her Bachelor’s degree at Wellesley College in Massachusetts. With a dream of serving the Hawaii community, Dr. Chen earned her Medical Degree and OB/GYN residency from John A Burns School of Medicine. Born in Taiwan, Dr. Chen is also fluent in Mandarin Chinese. With a strong background in research, Dr. Chen has studied medication effects on embryogenesis to improve pregnancy safety for patients. As an avid educator, Dr. Chen trains medical students, resident doctors, and nurse practitioners. Patients at Hawaii OBGYN Cares receive top qualify care directly from Dr. Chen and licensed nurses.
